“Cooking is like love, both come from the heart. You have to be extremely passionate about what you do” says Chef Hemant Oberoi. He has had an illustrious career spanning 40 years and becoming the Grand Executive Chef of the Taj Hotel group. He was responsible for the creation of stellar restaurants such as Varq, Zodiac Grill, Souk, Masala Kraft and Blue Ginger. Varq which was named in San Pellegrino’s list of best restaurants.
His dedication to his craft is what elevates his cooking to another level and leaves you in awe of the magnificence of what he has created. It is his dedication that has allowed him to cook for a number of world leaders and celebrities including Mr. and Mrs. Obama, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton, Margret Thatcher, Brangelina and Tom Cruise.
He is also a trend setter in the culinary world, mixing Indian and western cuisines and inventing unique dishes such as Nazza (Naan Pizza), Gulab Jamun Crème Brule and even Vodka Gol Gappas. They have since become staples in many Indian Fine Dining establishments. His signature dishes include Varqui Crab, Ganderi Kebabs, Seafood Rassa and Quinoa Chaat.
